X-trême Conquistadors
« X-Treme Conquistadors » is inspired both by my own experience as free-rider in extreme conditions, and by the adventures of true heroes, extreme conquistadors such as adventurer Mike Horn. They evolve in places under extreme conditions, where sudden weather changes can force the “super” sportsman to shift from hiking activities to a state of survival. These unforeseen changes with dramatic impacts require that the individual have very quick access to appropriate equipment including a technical device that allows it to convert in a few seconds such as the instantaneous release of an airbag in case of avalanche.
My purpose is to transpose the main features of this type of product, such as functionality, optimisation, protection and technical nature, into the items of this collection.
« X-Treme Conquistadors » s’inspire de ma pratique du freeride et de mes héros : les conquistadors de l’extrême, comme l’aventurier Mike Horn. Évoluant dans des endroits aux conditions extrêmes où les conditions météorologiques peuvent se détériorer en quelques minutes obligeant parfois les sportifs à passer d’une simple randonnée à des conditions de survie. Ces changements brusques nécessitent un accès rapide au matériel adéquat, possédant un dispositif technique lui permettant de se transformer instantanément comme, l’airbag d’avalanche. Mon but a été de recréer les caractéristiques principales de ces produits qui sont: la fonctionnalité, la technicité, la protection, l’optimisation et la transformation dans les pièces de ma collection.

Building the concept
« X-treme Conquistadors » reformulates the “Convertible” process of the equipment under extreme conditions into an urban collection.
The collection is a series of « Showpieces » which reformulate the codes of high mountaineering bags thanks to the convertible process. It comprises eight looks. The compressed bag can be turned into an XL size with one single movement; the sleeping bag converts into a winter jack; the airbag pumps up in 10 seconds around the head and neck.
« X-treme Conquistadors » then became the manifesto line of my brand DYL while defining an aesthetic of communication which illustrates the process of transformation. It is above all a communication operation which may be developed in a more commercial way In the framework of DYL or spark off collaboration with other brands.
« X-treme Conquistadors » traduit ce principe de transformation de l’équipement en conditions extrêmes en vêtements et accessoires de la vie urbaine. La collection s’est alors articulée en « show-pieces » qui reformulent les codes des sacs de haute montagne au travers du principe de transformation.
Elle est composée de huit looks. Il y a le sac compressé qui peut devenir un format XL en un geste, le sac de couchage qui devient une veste d’hiver ou encore l’airbag qui se gonfle en 10 secondes.
«X-treme Conquistadors » est devenue la ligne manifeste de ma marque de prêt-à-porter DYL tout en définissant une esthétique de communication qui illustre le principe de transformation. C’est avant tout une opération de communication pouvant être déclinée de manière commerciale au travers de DYL ou alors décider des collaborations avec d’autres
